Checking out the brand new uni-meter as we hurriedly get ready, staying up late into the night, for BayCon42.  (7/1/26)

Ready to sell a lot of books and toys!  (7/3/26)

Hanging out in our hotel room, deconstructing the day, and watching a bunch of Heartland.  (7/3/26)

Lee spent the day at a science center with Oma Suzy, but then the three of us caught the fireworks right in front of our hotel between episodes of Heartland.  (7/4/26)

Our little cozy bubble of white linens and troubled horses.  (7/6/26)

Relaxing after a long con.  (7/6/26)

We ended our trip to the Bay Area by having dinner at Chef Chu's and catching up with family.  (7/6/26)

Grandpa Ralph brought some books, photographs, and sentimental papers along to share.  (7/6/26)

Saying goodbye to Oma Suzy and Grandpa Ralph.  (7/6/26)

Back to our tiny bubble of order... and chaos.  (7/6/26)

Stopping to try some baklava in the middle of a very, very long drive home.  (7/7/26)

Stopping to hang out in the cool grass, escaping the heat of a car with eratic air-conditioning.  (7/7/26)

Lee found little guys.  (7/7/26)

It's good to stop and ponder the lives of little things.  (7/7/26)

We got home from our trip to find a much less fluffy -- but also much calmer -- Fluffy Man.  Apparently, Cole stored a lot of his anxiety in his fur.  (7/8/26)

Taking a break from video games to read an XKCD relevant to the converation in the room.  (7/12/26)

Heading to the Teddy Bear Picnic.  (7/18/26)

A ladbybug joined us at the picnic.  (7/18/26)

Lane spent all day in the heat, manning the Phi Long Lion Dance booth at the Asian Celebration in Alton Baker Park, and for the first time, he got to do actual lion dancing -- performing the tail on the red lion!  (7/18/26)

We were trying to remember something and went to look it up in this picture page...  (7/22/26)

...the kids quickly realized this was a clever way to not get sent to bed even though it was quite late, as we continued happily scrolling through old memories.  (7/22/26)

Lee decided he wanted to recreate this picture of his holding the lovely toy robot.  (7/22/26)

Lee and a lovely toy robot.  (7/22/26)

Time to wrap Lane's birthday presents.  (7/25/26)

Lee's been told he must sing "La la la, connect the dots" while writing Lane's name on this present via connected dots.  (7/25/26)

Trying to stop Julian from chewing on all the ribbons.  (7/25/26)

The little bandit wouldn't stop, so it was time to hold him like a baby.  (7/25/26)

The next morning, Julian is still lurking around, and several of the ribbons are noticeably more munged.  (7/26/26)

Lane is disconcertingly good at judging what kind of object is inside a present by examing in.  Julian is disconcertingly good at chewing on them.  (7/26/26)

We went blackberry picking.  (7/26/26)

It was apparently early in the season, but there were still plenty of good berries.  (7/26/26)

Lane gets many burrs on his pants from the blackberry picking, and so the children discuss how the difference between Birday and Birthday is just the TH...  (7/26/26)

...and so logically, they must conclude the Thnikaman will come tonight and bring the TH to turn Birthday Eve -- a.k.a. Birday -- into Birthday.  (7/26/26)

We escaped from The Cabin as Escape the Room with 53 seconds to spare!  (7/27/26)

Now is the time for pointing at cakes.  Lane was torn between a chocolate one with other desserts stacked on top of it and a strawberry boston, so we did some shopping and picked up additional treats while he carefully considered the options.  (7/27/26)

Before eating the cake, there is much opening of presents.  (7/27/26)

Lane appreciates a not from Physics Alley Guy regarding his new ghostface rubber duck and looks through the table of contents for a book from his fairy godmother.  (7/27/26)

Oh, how it shines for you.  (7/27/26)

Apparenlty, the giant sprinkles were not crunchy, but overall, quite a successful cake.  (7/27/26)

Lane never thought he'd eat sushi from a boat.  Lee who claims to not like spicy things eats straight wasabi and comments on the irony.  (7/27/26)

Lee insists that these roses are not sorbet, in spite of their label.  (7/27/26)

"Do they LOOK like sorbet???"  (7/27/26)

When asked if he supposes his toeses are roses, Lee insists not.  Thus he is not Moses.  However, does Lee decree that his knees are bees?  He is too flabbergasted to properly answer.  (7/27/26)

Lane discovers a flower called the French child --  "Les Enfant des France."  (7/27/26)

Nineteen years old.  Oh yeah.  (7/27/26)
